Cherie Marriott is a relationship and family therapist with over a decade of clinical experience working with couples and families. Cherie brings a mix of warmth and expert training to help couples and families navigate difficult patches in their relationships. As a Masters-level counsellor and psychotherapist, she specialises in helping clients explore their relationships in a mediated and supportive environment.
Cherie started her counselling practice in the fields of complex trauma and domestic violence, working in the non-government sector offering support to children in out-of-home care and adult survivors of child abuse.
Cherie’s approach is to offer relationship therapy with a coaching edge, meaning she uses her expert assessment of the dynamics between people to gently guide them into adopting better practices. She works collaboratively to set therapy goals, offering choice at every point and building a strong rapport with her couples and families. Clients leave each session with a deeper understanding of relationship dynamics, tools to improve communication and the confidence to move forward.
Cherie believes good relationships are key to our overall sense of wellbeing. She supports clients to address past hurts and long-standing disagreements, but also encourages people to focus on future goals.
