What quote do you live by?
Only Love is real … and when faced with a dilemma I ask myself the question, “What would Love do?”

What Yoga style do you practice?
Although I have been exposed to an eclectic mix of Yoga styles, T.K.V Desikachar’s Viniyoga provides my practice foundations.  So I practice what my body and Being call for in the moment and always in concert with a focus on the breath.

How did you start Yoga?
In my early twenties I faced some serious mental health challenges.  My then sister-in-law suggested we try a yoga class together and I was hooked.

Can you sum up what Yoga gives you in a few words?
It creates the spaciousness for me to remember who I really am.

Where and when did you do your first Teacher Training?
I apprenticed with an experienced Yogi/Yoga Teacher in Balmain for 5 years and coordinated that with the 2nd intake of Naturecare’s 3-Year Diploma of Health (Yoga) finishing in 2002.

Favourite Pose?
It changes depending on where I’m at.  Right now I’m loving Supta Baddha Konasana with legs over a bolster.

Least favourite Pose?
Never changes – Gomukhasana without a doubt!  My hips just weren’t designed for that one I’m sure! ?

If you could study with any teacher, who would it be and why?
Paramahansa Yogananda.  His book “Autobiography of a Yogi” changed my life.

Best in class blooper?
I was getting a class to repeat a mantra in Meditation – Existence Consciousness Bliss  (Sat Chit Ananda)  But apparently my diction wasn’t so good on the Chit!

Lululemon or Dharmabums?
As long as it’s got some colour, I’m happy!

Where would be your ultimate Yoga retreat destination?
I’ve always wanted to go to Kripalu but with Covid, I’d love one at Ulluru.  Imagine a yoga practice alongside the heart of the planet!

What do you love most about your job?
Seeing the transformation on the faces of students at the end of the class.

What have you given up to teach you?
Self-criticism and self-judgement.

What have you gained by teaching yoga?
Infinite possibilities!

What was the best thing about COVID lockdown?
Tapping into previously untapped potential as we had to pivot to teaching over Zoom.

If you could talk to your pre-yoga self, what would you tell her?
You are so much stronger than you think you are.

What hobbies/activities do you have outside yoga?
Holistic Counselling, swimming, snorkelling, walking adventures and consciousness exploration.

How long have you taught at Qi?
It will be one year come November 2020 and I’m loving it! ?
