Yin Yoga contains the ancient, and some say original form of asana practice. If you sit crossed legged you know that this requires strength and flexibility round the spine and hips. The sensations experienced also arise from the deep connective tissues and joints of the body. These are referred to as the yin tissues of the body, relative to the more superficial yang tissues of muscle and skin. Yin Yoga opens up these deep, dense and for most often untouched/explored areas.
Yin Yoga focuses on depth in asana, to hold awareness with your breath.

A perfect balance of the restorative, surrendering qualities of Yin with the vibrant, energising qualities of Yang.
All areas of our body need to be used to maintain their functionality.s
Our Yang tissues are our muscles, and they love rhythmic movement. This is activating and energising and promotes essential structural stability.
Our Yin tissues, our gorgeous ligaments, also deserve attention and the opportunity to be more juicy. As we get older, the stiffness that we may feel, comes from a lack of working into these deeper areas. Yin is supportive and nourishing, promoting ease of mobility.
With this combination of Yin and Yang, we calm overexcited areas and remove stagnancy from others, allowing us to support our health and true happiness in a conscious, friendly way.

“Vinyasa” means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words you move from one pose to the next with the breath in a flowing way. The poses often run together and become like a dance.

This style allows for a lot of variety, but will almost certainly include Sun Salutations. Expect movement, not just stretching and it may be fast or slow depending on the students and on the individual teacher.

Sometimes we feel on top of the world. And sometimes…we don’t know why, but we just feel meh

Seasonal change can disrupt our happy energies, especially in the transition seasons of late Autumn (and Spring.)

Let me share traditional Hatha yoga methods to achieve an effortless sense of balance throughout all your systems (the Yogis identified not 1, but 5 bodies to balance!) by using seasonal Asana (posture) special Pranayama (breathing practices) and some simple Meditation and lifestyle guidelines. These balance the subtle energies constantly shimmering in us (called the 5 Vayus)

My Mantra for Autumn/Winter practices is “Low, Slow, Flow”. It is available to anyone regardless of age or ability.

I try to keep my yoga -and my teaching- simple and practical with a  focus on what works, not what sounds cool or spiritual.
So everything I’ll share has been road-tested over many years for not very “good” yogis (like me) but offers really potent results.

I invite you to share a earthy journey to find effortless balance with me.
