Dr Tara Walker is a passionate and dedicated osteopath, yoga teacher and pilates teacher. She was drawn to osteopathy because of its uniquely holistic, patient-centred approach to health and wellness.

Tara’s experience includes treating back and neck pain, headaches and migraines, jaw pain, pelvic and sacroiliac joint pain, rib and breathing dysfunction, scoliosis and postural problems, and joint problems (hip, knee, ankle, elbow, wrist, hands and feet). She has also worked with patients with autoimmune disorders, arthritis and neurological problems.

With a calm, grounding and technically precise treatment style, Tara aims to help patients achieve optimum health and wellbeing. Tara is a deeply caring practitioner, who listens attentively and likes her patients to feel genuinely heard. Treatment involves detailed case history, physical assessment and diagnosis, hands on treatment and management advice.

Drawing on the full breadth of osteopathic techniques, Tara uses a blend of soft/deep tissue massage, stretching, myofascial release, counterstrain, joint articulation and mobilisation, joint manipulation, balanced ligamentous tension, cranial osteopathy and visceral osteopathy tailored to suit each individual.

Tara enjoys treating patients of all ages, from infants through to the elderly. Her particular interests are in women’s health and pregnancy, paediatrics and gut/brain health. Since completing her Master of Osteopathic Medicine, Tara has undertaken extensive post graduate training in women’s health and pregnancy, treating babies and children, cranial and visceral osteopathy. She has studied fascia and kinesthetic intelligence in the US with Thomas Myers and neuroplasticity with Norman Doidge in Australia.

Tara has trained in teaching Ashtanga, Yoga Synergy, Akhanda Hatha, Advanced Vinyasa, Pranayama, Restorative, Kundalini and Kids and Family Yoga, as well as Polestar Mat and Studio/Rehabilitation Pilates. She enjoys incorporating this knowledge into her treatments with practical take-home exercises and lifestyle advice.

Osteopathy is covered by most private health funds and by Medicare’s Chronic Disease Management Plans. Tara is a member of the professional body, Osteopathy Australia and is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
