CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Tanya's first career was as a ballet dancer. Trained at the Royal Ballet School, London and the Academie de Danse Classique Princess Grace in Monte Carlo she went on to perform with several companies in Europe among them the Royal Swedish Ballet, Scapino Ballet in The Netherlands, and ultimately at Ballett Frankfurt in Germany.
After spending many years dealing with injury, fatigue and the constant pressures of touring and performing, Tanya was led toward the potentials of Natural Therapies. After several years studying various forms of bodywork including Remedial, Sports and Pregnancy Massage she discovered the extraordinarily gentle yet powerful effects of Craniosacral Therapy (CST).
Tanya trained in Bio-dynamic Craniosacral Therapy with Paul Vick (UK) from Resonance Trainings and continued with post graduate studies in New Zealand and Australia . She now practices CST full time and assists on Australian Bio-dynamic Craniosacral Training through Stillness Trainings.
As a Craniosacral Therapist Tanya listens to your body through the light touch of her hands and with a conscious rhythm of presence.
When listening to your body the pulsations, the ebb and flow of fluids and the movement in the bones and tissues can be felt. In this way she can identify patterns of restriction, congestion or contraction.
Any stresses, strains, tensions or traumas which may have been stored in the ‘cellular memory' of the body create contraction which can prevent the body from functioning with full and natural vitality. The effects may be both physical, (e.g. pain, digestive disorders, exhaustion, hormonal issues etc) and emotional (anxiety, irritability, hopelessness, depression, etc).
Tanya uses her hands to reflect back to the body the pattern it is holding.
In doing so, possibilities arise within the body's natural self healing processes to bring a more balanced way into being and gives the potential to resolve chronic conditions and disorders. This happens at a deep level but can be likened to the experience of someone holding a mirror in front of you when you don't realize you are frowning. All of a sudden you become aware of your expression and you may then choose to relax your face.
As a whole body therapy, Craniosacral Therapy may aid people with a large variety of conditions; it encourages deep relaxation that can allow higher levels of energy and greater physical ease to become available.
